Consultations
The Austrian job market has specific standards. To maximize your chances of a successful application, please follow this mandatory process:
1. Preparation (Self-Service)
Before scheduling an individual consultation, please make use of the resources we’ve provided. Most questions regarding strategy and format are answered here:
- Job Search Guide: Use our Info Guide to learn about the local job market and legal framework.
- Application Templates: You must adapt your resume and cover letter to our Austria-specific templates. Documents from other countries are often not compatible with local expectations. >> Here you find our templates<<
- Semester Presentation: Attend our “Working in Austria” presentation once per semester. Here, we provide an overview of the job search process and application materials and address all general questions in a group setting. >>Here you find our events<<
If you still have specific questions after revising your documents on your own, please contact us via email:
- Job Search Questions: Send your specific questions to careercenter@uni-graz.at.
- Document review: We’re happy to review your documents via email, provided they have already been substantially adapted based on our templates. Please send us the revised version for review at careercenter@uni-graz.at.
2. Our Expertise
Once you’ve revised your documents on your own, we’d be happy to help you fine-tune them during a one-on-one session (approx. 30 minutes).
Please note the following guidelines:
- Prerequisite: Thorough preparation (completion of Steps 1 & 2) is mandatory so that we can address your specific needs.
- Focus: These consultations are reserved exclusively for complex individual cases that cannot be resolved using our standard templates or via email.
This ensures that we can use our time together efficiently to address your specific questions.
We will help you prepare for the personal meeting and give you tips on how to give a convincing job interview:
- What questions can I expect during a job interview?
- How does a job interview work? What do I need to pay attention to?
- Are my answers to typical questions good?
You can also take advantage of a mock interview, which will give you professional feedback in a safe environment!
Together, we will take a look at the career fields you have identified and help you find the right parameters for your decision-making process:
- What are the respective advantages and disadvantages of my career options?
- How do I define parameters that are important for my career choice?
- What do I want to achieve professionally?
